UNDP ERTR Report

The Fruitful Duties...
The most fruitful and rewarding work experience has been my works with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Aceh. I worked with a wonderful team led by a very smart girl, Malikah Amril, whom I respect so much, a great mentor, Robin Willison, and wonderful colleagues. These are some publications in UNDP Newsletters on those exciting duties.
- March 2007, Turning Up The Volume to Disaster Risk Reduction (page 8)
- May 2007, Reaching A Milestone in Disaster Risk Reduction (page 7)
- September 2007, Back to School with Disaster Risk Reduction (page 4)
- November 2007, Disaster Risk Reduction Begins at School (page 9)
World Vision Documents
I found my name in the World Vision Asia-Pacific documents. Back some months ago, my colleagues and I in the UNDP DRR Team were interviewed by the Asia-Pacific Disaster Monitor publisher to provide some insights and information for World Vision's report and disaster fact sheet. Those documents are good resources for those who would like to learn more about DRR issues in the region:Disaster Risk Reduction Works
Working in Post Tsunami Aceh as a Liaison Associate for Disaster Risk Reduction Project involved me into related news by local media. Not all of them are published online, however these are some of the news that I could track online:
Global Voices

It was an honor to find that Global Voices Online, a non-profit global citizens’ media project founded at Harvard Law School’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society, aggregated 2 of my blog articles.
"Global Voices seeks to aggregate, curate, and amplify the global conversation online - shining light on places and people other media often ignore..."And, they picked my writings on 9/11 Tragedy, and my thoughts on Education from my old blog. It motivates me to be a "more responsibleful blogger", to write something meaningful than just a diary in my blog. Because blog is worldwide, and it can be the windows for others to see the other sides of the world.

Asia-Europe Young Volunteers Exchange 2004
This is one of my favorite photographs, ever. I love the smiles, the green grass of Paris in summer time, and the notes written in our papers. It was the moment when I first learned about cross-cultural understanding.
I was sent to the Asia-Europe Young Volunteer Exchange (AEVE) 2004 by Indonesia International Work Camp (IIWC), an NGO that was established in 1999 within the circle of my volunteer friends.
AEVE is an annual program organized by the Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS) - UNESCO, sponsored by Asian - European Foundation (ASEF). It gathered volunteers who work on international work camp projects to improve their cross-cultural understanding and work camp management skills. I felt that AEVE was a surprising gift for my voluntary works. I have never planned to be there, as since 1993 I just feel contented to do nice things for others in my voluntary works. I had never thought that those works could bring me so far away, experiencing even more exciting new lessons, expanding my networks, and nurturing my dreams.
This is the link to the report of AEVE 2004, where you can learn some glimpse of Cross-Cultural Understanding Values and international volunteer networks...
AEVE 2004 Report

Java Jazz, Incognito, and I

I love jazz, I love many jazz performers, but above all, I love Incognito. I flew 3 hours to the Capital City of Indonesia, to watch their performance in Java Jazz Festival 2008, bought a new digital SLR camera with the intention of shooting the best photos from their shows, and it was paid nicely.
Some days after the festival I googled for Incognito and Java Jazz, and I found, that their official website grabbed my the photos that I published in my old blog!
Here are the list of links of my photos in Incognito's website:

The Petarangan

The Petarangan belongs to Wiwien Wintarto, my friend who is a very productive novel writer, and now starting up his career as movie scriptwriter. I knew him since 2002, when he was the senior editor in a teenage tabloid, and my (ex) company was developing that tabloid's website. He is so witty - I always feel that he always have all expressions to tell any stories.
